Hi there! 👋

I’m Anna! Nice to meet you. 😊 I’m a sensitive soul who cries every time I watch Jessica Vosk sing The Wizard and I. I also love cheese. Those are the two most important things about me.

Seriously though, as someone who’s been singing since I was a little girl (yes, I’ve had these bangs since then), I have been through lots of toxic music environments that exploited and silenced my voice (there’s a reason #musicschooltrauma is a thing).

The pain, grief, and healing I’ve navigated make me humbly qualified to do this work. It is truly my life’s purpose to remind you how special + powerful you and your voice are.

Why Sing Anyway?

I started singing classical music when I was 16 years old. My heart was really for musical theatre, but I was encouraged to go on to college and then grad school for vocal performance.

In the midst of grad school, I started experiencing the effects of burnout. I felt like I lost myself and even scarier, lost my love of singing.

My voice was carrying the weight of years of abuse, exploitation, and injury.

I was suffering and my voice was suffering, too.

I dropped out of a doctorate program because frankly, I was afraid what would happen to my voice (and my spirit) if I kept pushing through.

Since then, I have been on my own journey healing my relationship with singing (as well as helping others heal).

Fast forward to 2022 and I am chatting with my therapist about how I’m having such a hard time singing after leaving school.

I told her I felt anxious whenever I sang, I felt tense, I hated my voice, and that I wasn't even sure what my real voice sounded like anymore.

She told me to feel all the things and sing anyway.

Thus Sing Anyway was born. Sing Anyway does NOT mean to sing through anything—it means honoring all you have been through and choosing to reclaim singing as an act of love, joy, and healing.

Let’s work together!

You hold all of the answers inside of you already. I am here to accompany and care for you while they are unearthed. I would love to get to know you and see how I can be a supportive force in your life as you step back into singing.
